I am organising an AcroYoga workshop 8-9 May @ The Substation.
"AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage,
and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form this practice that
cultivates trust, connection and playfulness to bring individuals into a state of union with
themselves, with each other, and with the divine. From this place of mutual support,
the true self can be realized, celebrated and shared for the benefit of all."
You can find out more about AcroYoga at

I first came to know about AcroYoga at The Circus. I found that it took yoga to a "fun" place : It is hard work, but playful! The practise requires good core & upper body strength and helps us develop an understanding about balance and weight which will benefit our regular practise.
Watch Jason & Jenny's demo on Youtube (but don't get overly intimidated!). It's so beautiful.

Contact AcroYoga Fundamentals (May 8 - Sat 8.30-10.45am)
Enjoy contact yoga with the technical foundations of AcroYoga.
Beginners have the opportunity to learn the basics of AcroYoga
in a safe space. Intermediate students will solidify and refine their practise.
Acrobatic Flying (May 8 - Sat 11.15am-1.30pm)
Build on acrobatic training techniques for strength, alignment and proper
muscular engagement that will see you through your regular practise.
Learn acrobatic flying skills focusing on hand-foot placement, sequences,
transitions, base/flyer communication and spotting. A playful, safe and
supportive environment that will empower the whole room to be upside
down and connect to the divine!
Therapeutic Flying (May 9 - Sun 1.00-3.15pm)
Take Thai Massage techniques into the air! Flying (lifting a person in the air)
utilises gravity to release and open the flyer’s spine whilst grounding and
empowering the base. Enjoy the healing ~ the nectar of AcroYoga aka
Anti-Gravitional Spinal Elongation.
There will also be a free practise / jam session Sat May 8 4.30-6.30pm at the Botanical Gardens!

"After years of martial arts practice (mainly Kung Fu and Tai Chi) I began my yogic journey at the end of 2001 with daily Bikram practice. In parallel I studied Contact Yoga in the tracks of Ken Scott Nateshvar and followed his teacher trainings in 2002 and 2003. In the meantime I explored various styles of Yoga and am now alternating between Iyengar and Ashtanga, and exploring other styles (recent crush on Anusara). After several AcroYoga workshops I dived deeper in the practice by taking the 2008 teacher training in the magic Greek island of Lesvos. AcroYoga is for me a delicious cocktail of Yogic wisdom, acrobatic fire, and the healing sweetness of Breema and Thai massage. This year 2010, I am deepening my practice by training in Tulayoga (aerial bodywork), and joining the Thai Massage Circus.
Let's fly and heal!"
